Collect a small handover file
Ask for the named product, colour, finish and any slab reference, together with the care sheet and warranty documents. Keep our contact details and a note of any treatment applied to the stone. This information can matter if you need help with a mark, chip or joint later.
Clarify when the newly installed worktop can be used and whether sealants or adhesives need time before normal cleaning or use. Follow the instructions given for your job rather than a generic waiting period.
Follow the product’s cleaning instructions
Caesarstone’s quartz guidance recommends a soft cloth with mild detergent, followed by rinsing and drying. Its advice also includes heat protection and chopping boards. Cosentino recommends neutral soap and a damp microfibre cloth for routine Dekton cleaning.
These examples are product-specific. Do not assume that a cleaner recommended for one surface is appropriate for another. Keep the relevant instructions accessible and check them before trying a strong cleaner or stain treatment.
Ask about stone treatments separately
Ask us whether your chosen natural stone needs sealing or other ongoing treatment. Request the product and timing in writing if it does. Do not add a treatment simply because another granite or marble required it.
Cosentino’s Sensa range, for example, comes with its own stain-protection treatment and separate maintenance guidance. That is a reason to identify the surface accurately, rather than a rule for all natural stone.
Get advice before a repair attempt
If you see a chip, crack, dull patch or loose joint, photograph the issue and contact us with the product details. Explain what happened and what cleaning or treatment has already been attempted. Avoid experimenting with abrasives or repair kits while trying to identify the problem.
