Make the slab part of your decision
Ask to see the slab that would be reserved for your project, not simply a sample carrying the same name. Look at the overall tone and movement as well as the small details you notice close up. Photograph or record the agreed slab reference so the written order is clear.
Take time over the position of the most visible pieces. A long run beside a window, the front of an island and a short section behind a sink may reveal quite different parts of the stone. If the design is directional, ask to review the proposed cutting layout before approval.
Decide how you want the finished edges to read
Choose the edge alongside the cabinet style and overall proportions of the room. Ask to see a finished edge in the selected stone, including the underside and any corners. A small sample with an unfinished edge cannot tell you everything about the final appearance.
Include the sink opening, drainer details and any window ledges when discussing fabrication. These details belong in the same scope as the main worktops. Our thickness and edge guide helps organise those decisions.
Get care advice for the exact stone
Care and sealing requirements depend on the stone and any treatment already applied. Do not assume that every granite follows one maintenance schedule. For example, Cosentino describes Sensa as treated natural stone that does not normally need another protective treatment; that statement is specific to its range.
Ask us for a written cleaning routine, any sealing requirements and the response to a spill or chip. Keep the product identification with those instructions. This makes future advice more reliable than asking about “a dark granite” several years later.
Plan the installation before committing
A large slab still has to reach the kitchen safely. Tell us about steps, changes of level, narrow doorways and parking or unloading arrangements. Give these details before a cutting plan is finalised, especially for a large island.
Compare the whole quotation rather than the slab price: survey, fabrication, installation, removal and appliance reconnection may be separate items. Use the quote checklist to record what us includes.
