Before the survey or template
Ask us what must be ready for the templating visit. This may include completed cabinet positions and available sink, hob and tap information. Use the job-specific preparation instructions you are given rather than a generic checklist.
Confirm whether old worktops remain in place for the survey or must be removed first. Establish who is responsible for levelling, support, disconnection and removal. A visit is more useful when the person authorised to approve the details can attend.
At the template appointment
Review the agreed layout, joints, edge profiles and visible faces. Discuss the exact sink and hob openings and any wall panels, window returns or overhangs. Ask how variations from the initial estimate will be recorded and priced.
Make unresolved choices explicit. If a model is changing or a cabinet position is uncertain, say so before the job moves to fabrication. Keep the approved specification or drawing with the quotation so there is a shared reference.
Between templating and fitting
Ask us for a confirmed programme and the conditions that could affect it, including material availability and changes after approval. Do not book other trades against a generic lead-time estimate from a website.
Avoid changing units, wall finishes or appliance positions after the final dimensions are approved without discussing the consequences. Clarify how the property needs to be prepared and whether clear access or special handling arrangements are required on fitting day.
At installation and handover
Check the fitted layout and visible finish before sign-off. Ask when the surface can be used, who reconnects appliances and who completes any surrounding work. Keep the installation contact and the written care instructions for the named material.
Ask how to report an issue and what any workmanship and manufacturer warranties actually cover. Our quotation checklist helps you assign responsibilities in advance; the care guide covers useful handover information.
